Seven years into running her Noosa-based design studio and boutique, CLO Studios founder and creative director Chloe Tozer knew it was time for a refresh – of the brand, and their office.
She originally started the business at just 21 with her mother, Trudy, an interior designer. But now with Chloe leading CLO Studios’ team of 24, the team needed a new space that could reflect how they evolved in the last few years.
‘We were bursting at the seams… so when the opportunity presented to take over the lease next door, we jumped at it!’ Chloe says. ‘The building, originally from the ‘80s, is an old live music club named Mariachis.’
‘We got the keys and the next day had builders knocking down walls.’
Fast-forward 16 weeks, and they had transformed the two spaces into one impressive atelier, with a meeting space named the ‘Mariachi Room’ as a playful ode to the building’s partying past.
The colour palette was inspired by a beautiful ‘red-wine-meets-aubergine’ tone, complemented with earthy, rendered walls for a calming effect. Each person in Chloe’s team also shared their ideas for the office in an anonymous questionnaire, which has helped spark ‘a lot of creativity and collaboration’ in the new space.
‘We now have a dedicated library full of inspiring fabrics, finishes and book,’ Chloe adds. ‘It feels very homely with lots of natural light.’
Most of the art in the office is from Chloe’s ‘sentimental’ collection. These include an original by famous French artist Max Paprt she picked up from a gallery in Saint Germain and a few pieces by friend and local artist Stanislas Piechascek.
She says their office is now the perfect introduction to CLO Studio’s interior style, showcasing a love of mixing design eras, colours, and textures with her client’s own stories. Plus, their boutique is just next door, filled with ‘beautiful treasures’ from international destinations like Morocco, alongside homewares, furniture and art from local brands. And the store will also be getting a facelift soon, so watch this space!
