In many ways, the debut ceramics collection of Anna Tronson is a natural extension of her jewellery and art practice.

‘I began painting still life scenes during Covid and have always had an idea to bring my paintings to life by making the vases and jugs seen in my paintings,’ Anna explains.

‘The making process is not dissimilar to the lost wax casting process I used for jewellery.’

‘My dream would be to create an entire wall of fish somewhere extra special!’

Anna’s colourful ocean creatures are inspired by nostalgic memories visiting her grandparents in Somers, as well as summer days spent fishing with her dad.

‘My husband is Tasmanian, and we have an Airbnb in Spring Beach, Tasmania called Merryway,’ adds Anna. ‘Spending so much time there, looking out over Maria Island and styling the house has certainly had a huge influence on this collection!’

The stunning garden designed by Keith Edwards surrounding Anna’s Balnarring home is also referenced in her work’s use of colour and shape.

She says, ‘I walk through the garden most days and admire unexpected colour combinations. It definitely brings me an enormous amount of joy and inspiration!’

You can find Anna’s ceramics at a one-night-only exhibition at Merricks Store on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula on Friday October 11 from 6-8pm. Following the event, pieces will be available at Merricks’ The Traders store for a short time, and online.
