The hotly anticipated Melbourne Art Fair takes over the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre later this month!
From February 20 to 23, more than 100 interdisciplinary artists will transform the 9000-square-metre space into a vibrant hub of innovation, spanning moving-image, installation, large-scale sculpture and activations.
This year’s program is curated by an all female lineup, with a major focus on First Nations artists and creatives that have been ‘traditionally underlooked’.
Visitors can explore more than 70 leading galleries and Indigenous-owned art centres including Mars Gallery, Arts Project Australia, Daine Singer, Sullivan& Strumpf, West Space, Papunya Tjupi Arts, and APY Art Centre Collective.
There’ll also be workshops by the likes of Beci Orpin, conversation panels, three large-scale installations, and two new major works being commissioned especially for the Melbourne Art Fair — a moving-image work by Dawn Ng, and a sculptural piece by Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland-based artist Yona Lee.
It all kicks off with the opening night Vernissage, which is an exclusive opportunity to browse (and shop!) the expansive contemporary art on offer before anyone else.
Other highlights include a tour of emerging galleries, the Victorian First Peoples Art and Design Fair Showcase Exhibition, and the Art Guide Bookstore, featuring a selection of Australia’s best art publications.
Tickets are limited and we even have a special discount code below — so don’t miss out!
