Jono Fleming is the nicest guy in the room. Every. Single. Time. It’s actually his superpower! You can probably tell how much we love him from the amount of times we’ve featured his cheerful, sunny face on TDF (remember his maximalist Sydney apartment, or the penthouse he designed for his parents?).
This excellent energy is also probably one of the reasons he’s worked in nearly every corner of the industry. It’ll come as no surprise to learn that a successful freelance career does not come out of nowhere, there is serious work involved in forging the kind of multifaceted
Jono started things out in the traditional way, finishing an interior design degree and working as an in-house designer. After an unexpected setback inspired some soul-searching, he took a gig doing food prep and styling for chef Sylvia Colloca – which involved a trip to the Italian Alps to film her TV show.
Since then, Jono has been the Style editor at Inside Out, a stylist at Temple and Webster, co-hosted his own successful podcast (‘House of Style’ with friend Kerrie-Ann Jones) AND launched an affordable art business – all while sustaining a freelance styling career. There ain’t no rest for the wicked!
As you’ll hear, all of this comes down to bouncing back, saying ‘yes’ to unexpected opportunities, and having hobbies that don’t necessarily become your side hustle. But even with all that in mind, just HOW did he forge such a vibrant, versatile career? You’ll just have to listen to find out…
