Every year we look forward to the Victorian Architecture Awards shortlist, where the best new projects from around the state are announced.

Over 108 entries across 14 categories have been shortlisted for this year’s program, each of which highlight the valuable role architects play in creating sustainable, resilient, and innovative buildings.

Victorian Chapter president Amy Muir says the selected projects for 2020 go beyond the parameters of the brief to deliver compelling designs. ‘This year’s shortlisted projects are exemplars of the outcomes that can be achieved when architects are engaged in the entire process, resulting in a strong collaboration between client, consultants and contracted builders.’

In response to COVID-19, the Victorian Architecture Awards are going digital in 2020, with Zoom calls to replace standard site visits, and the awards ceremony to be broadcast via YouTube live stream. Normally an exclusive event, this ceremony will be open to members and the public free of charge for the first time. Tune in to Australian Institute of Architects’ YouTube channel on July 10 for the winners announcement!
