The new Playback range from Jacqui Vidal and Alana Langan of Ivy Muse is inspired by the 60s and 70s era homes the two plant enthusiasts have each recently moved into. Their respective new surroundings directly informed the design of the new collection, which they describe as ‘a nod to the decadence of the 70s’. The era when too many indoor plants were never enough!
Playback celebrates maximum greenery and vibrant colour, offering ‘plant lovers new ways to showcase their gang and reap the benefits of a life filled with plants’ Alana explains. The range includes plant stands, plant sconces and ceramics, and is the brand’s most extensive collection to date.
Jacqui acknowledges the importance of her community of customers and plant enthusiasts in developing this range, where feedback has been put into action. She explains ‘the Stevie wall hook was designed for people who love the idea of hanging plants, but not the idea of installing in their ceiling.’ A good lesson in the power of building a great community around your brand – and listening to them!
All of the products in Playback are manufactured locally in Melbourne by hand – including pieces by Robert Gordon Pottery, who created slip-cast pots for the range. Alana explains that while manufacturing locally can be costly and time consuming ‘for us, supporting local industry and people, and seeing the quality of the end product is something we value, and so it always worth it in the end.’
