From retro ramblers in Western Australia to Melbourne Bayside pedigree to today’s home… though we at Modernist Australia puff along a rapidly spinning wheel of homes to feature, we are kept exhilarated and astounded by the breadth and variation found in our Australian Modern taxonomy!
Here, we make a pit-stop once again to one of our favourite junctures: The Sydney School.
This sun-dappled, eucalypt-scented hideout in bush ‘burb heartland is the work of the mid-century modern luminary Don Gazzard (c.1964). It will be slaying all with its preserved originality, brilliant yet self-effacing design, and deference to the natural world above ALL else.
Such an earthy focus within elegant design is a particularly enticing balm for those burned out by the slog, speed and unending din of our current world. Surrender to the stillness here!
