In today’s episode, we chat with one of Melbourne’s most-loved foodies, and a dear friend of TDF, who we have collaborated with a number of times over the past few years.

Julia Busuttil Nishimura is a self-taught cook, recipe writer, and now, a best-selling author. Here, she shares how she’s turned her passion for food into a super-successful career.

With a background in primary school teaching, Julia Busuttil Nishimura’s passion for food led her to start her food blog, Ostro, in 2013, with a focus on sharing beautiful, yet uncomplicated food, with simple ingredients.

As her following started to grow, Julia caught the attention of a few publishers – and in 2017, her first book, entitled Ostro was released. Of all the beautiful cookbooks that are published in Australia each year, this book is truly something special. It’s received accolades both here and abroad, with Jamie Oliver calling it ‘A Truly brilliant first book!’.

Breaking news – Julia has just signed on to write her second book, which is very exciting, and she’s heading off to Italy soon to start researching.

I caught up with her recently to talk all about her rise to foodie fame, and she had so much wisdom to share!

FYI, TDF Talks is an enhanced podcast. So, if you’re using the Overcast or Pocket Casts apps, you will see relevant images and links in your player while you listen.
