Announcing the Tasmanian Architecture Award Winners

While Tasmania has occasionally been left of the map (honestly, there is a whole Wikipedia page dedicated to documenting these outrageous omissions) – the 2018 Tasmanian Architecture Award winners are impossible to overlook.

The prestigious accolades were announced on Saturday, July 7th, highlighting the exceptional calibre of local architectural practice.

Scroll through the winning residential properties below, for some Tuesday afternoon daydreaming.

The Tasmanian Architecture Awards were announced on Saturday, presenting 21 awards and commendations from a record 43 entries.

Excitingly, many of the winners were emerging Tasmanian practices, which Jury Chair Todd Henderson describes as reflecting the ‘depth and breadth of our young talent.’ He explained that ‘our architects have the ability to create iconic Tasmanian architecture that sits comfortably in its context, and their contribution to our built environment and tourism industry is invaluable.’

Honestly, if this is what up-and-coming practices design, we can’t wait to see what’s to come from Tassie-based design practices into the future.

Enjoy an afternoon work break to bask in some of the impressive winners – including the Hideaway Cabin from Maguire + Devine Architects which we toured in-depth yesterday!
