We first hosted an exhibition with Melbourne artist Fred Fowler in March last year, in our tiny, slightly ghetto (!) exhibition space in Brunswick. It seemed only fair to invite Fred back to exhibit with us again now that we have a bigger, brighter and much sleeker gallery space in Collingwood! Luckily for us – he accepted.
It’s been a huge 18 months for Fred – he’s been keeping busy painting and exhibiting, he’s undertaken an amazing residency in Korea, he has collaborated with Gorman, and he’s also been married and honeymooned etc etc! We’re SUPER excited to finish off the year with an exhibition of his latest work.
Entitled ‘Under Wild Skies‘, Fred’s upcoming show brings together a series of semi-abstract landscape paintings in his distinctive style. As with all Fred’s work, the paintings in this show are brought to life through a collage of symbols – the local pool, sections of bushland, boats, buildings, spirits and animals. Using these recurring motifs, Fred captures not only on the physical landscape, but also the cultural and psychological landscape of Australia.
All the works in Fred’s upcoming show are now pictured on the TDF Collect website. We are accepting pre-sales for the show via email. All enquiries please email lisa@thedesignfiles.net – thankyou!
