Ok I know cashmere is expensive but MAN, it's really addictive. I've become kind of obsessed with it this winter.  Once you've worn one super soft, ridiculously warm cashmere jumper, old fashioned merino sadly just doesn't cut it anymore. The thing is, cashmere knitwear is not always fashion forward.  There's a fair bit of dorky V-neck action going on in this category. SO when I spotted these eye-popping designs from Sydney-born Rebecca McGeoch, for her label, Gasparre Cashmere, my interest was piqued.  An Australian cashmere label!?  Well, kind of. Rebecca studied economics at Sydney University, but a trip to Egypt for her honeymoon in 2010 introduced her to the trans-seasonal qualities of cashmere.  'I realised the merits of cashmere, and its ability to keep the wearer cool during the day and warm at night' says Rebecca.  After returning to Sydney she spent six months researching and testing, and went on to launch her label in August 2010. The business is now based in Hong Kong, where Rebecca relocated in 2011 to be closer to her manufacturers (most of her range is now made in China and Hong Kong, to the highest quality standards). I am so taken with Gasparre's colourful Spring Summer 2013 / 14 collection, pictured here.  This vibrant range is Rebecca's boldest yet, and takes inspiration from the eclectic street style of Seoul, South Korea. 'I travel regularly between Hong Kong and Korea to meet with our retailers and expand our footprint throughout the region' says Rebecca - 'Korean fashion is electric and really inspiring'. This latest collection has also allowed Rebecca to experiment with new knit technologies, hand knitted features and a combination of fibres.  The range brings together cashmere, cashmere cotton blends, and linen fibres.  It is priced from AU$288 - $410 and will be available online later this month. Gasparre are working on a brand new website which unfortunately isn't quite finished...  Their current website is a bit ho hum, but it's actually well worth checking out their Facebook page for a closer look at their more current designs.  Seriously beautiful things!
