Top Ten Homes of 2017 · Lyon Housemuseum

Back in February we discovered the Lyon Housemuseum in Kew. Suffice to say, we were completely blown away.

This remarkable Australian home is both a stunning architecturally designed family home, and a public art museum. Seriously!

Today we revisit this incredible museum-house, which is home to Corbett Lyon, co-director of Lyons Architecture, his partner Yueji, and their daughters Carlin and Jaqlin.

When we first visited the Lyon Housemuseum in Kew I have to admit, I was completely dumbfounded.  Though it originally opened in 2009, somehow, this incredible project had slipped under our radar until this year, and, in fact, despite our best efforts, it still remains largely unknown to most Melburnians.

An impressive family home to art collectors Corbett and Yueji Lyon and their two grown-up daughters Carlin and Jaqlin, this family home also serves as an expertly curated art museum, housing the Lyon’s spectacular collection of Australian contemporary art. On designated days each week, the home is open to the public via private tours conducted by members of the family!
