Top Ten Australian Homes of 2016 · Kara Rosenlund and Timothy O

Today we revisit another favourite home – that of Brisbane based stylist, photographer and author Kara Rosenlund, and her husband Timothy, which we first shared back in March.

We’re always in awe of Kara’s distinctive aesthetic – she is a consummate collector, and the spaces she creates are always brilliantly layered with vintage ephemera and rustic details! Her sweet weatherboard cottage is the perfect period backdrop for Kara’s signature styling treatment.

Built in 1900, this much loved (and much photographed!) Brisbane workers cottage belongs to stylist and photographer Kara Rosenlund and her husband Timothy O.

Together with Kara’s father, Timothy and Kara carefully restored and renovated their home, but were keen to retain its original features. The distinctive V-groove wall panelling and Victorian detailing is the perfect backdrop for Kara’s signature styling treatment.  Collections of vintage breadboards, handcrafted ceramics and aged kitchen utensils are displayed en masse, to great effect!

The home Kara and Timothy have created here celebrates a sense of history and nostalgia, whilst also offering a new, contemporary way to live in an older style home. Above all, this place shows us how a clear stylist’s vision (and a little elbow grease!) really can turn a home of humble proportions into a space worth celebrating.

For the full story and many more photos of Kara and Timothy’s beautiful home, do pop back and revisit the original post!
