I am the worst at keeping plants alive, which is why it’s good to have a nice plant stand that offers a suitable distraction from my wilting Philodendron. Ivy Muse make good, distracting plant stands.

It’s been a busy year for Jacqui Vidal and Alana Langan of Ivy Muse since launching their first range in September 2014. Their products are now stocked in over 30 retailers across Australia, and just last week they opened their first bricks and mortar store in Prahran. Today they are debuting their third range – ‘Calypso’.

The latest range has expanded Ivy Muse’s offering beyond steel plant stands, to include ceramic pot plants and plant shelves. ‘We want people to get creative with their greenery,’ says Jacqui. ‘We like our products to have flexibility in their use, something that can stay in the home for years and constantly be switched up to keep things fresh.’

Despite the growth of Ivy Muse in the last year, everything is still designed and made in Melbourne or Sydney. For the ‘Calypso’ range, Jacqui and Alana have partnered with ceramicist Ana Maria Jensen to produce small ceramic pots, and they have also collaborated with Sydney-based Design Twins on a hand-painted lightweight concrete pot. The addition of a plant shelf in the Ivy Muse line-up seemed like the next logical step; these are made from Victorian Ash and powder coated steel.

‘Calypso’ is inspired by the tropics. ‘We went for big and bold forms, incorporating striking shapes, patterns and colours into our designs to give the collection a sense of movement and lightness,’ says Jacqui. The pair are currently putting the final touches on their fourth range, and having just opened their first shopfront, are excited about their next chapter.
